I’ve recently returned to full-time work and my husband is home with the kids. We’ve figured out a schedule of me dropping off kids and him picking them up. That means I had to create writing time! I’m up at 5:30 a.m. about 3–4 times a week to write before the kids need to be anywhere. It wouldn’t happen otherwise!! I’ll probably keep it this summer. Maybe I’ll even make that 5amwritersclub one of these days!

I love writing in the morning as well. Lately I've had a hard time getting up early, but I've found that waking up early daily I can get at least a little bit of writing in before everyone starts bugging me, lol!

I admire you so much. I've yet to be able to wake up before the kids and have my writing time. I'm always exhausted (4 kids, and I homeschool.) It's just tough! But I do wish I could make myself get up, even just for some coffee and peace. I use to think that I would just wait until nighttime - once everyone got to bed, but that never works either. Seems like I could control the morning a bit better. Geezz, I think I might find this inspiring. I'm going to try and wake up early tomorrow! Thank you, Leah!

Baby steps! I only get like 500 words written in each of those sessions—800 on a good day. I tried that end of the day, too, and I just can’t use my brain anymore! I’m impressed with you, too!

One thing in addition to getting up early to write (per my response to Leah), is that I also have an incredible writing group that I've been meeting with weekly for over two years. So shout out to Pen Parentis' accountability groups because having a check-in with other writers each week really does have an effect. If you're unfamiliar here's their website: https://penparentis.org/become-a-member/.

That’s such a great way to be motivated! I have a Discord group that’s international. We meet every two weeks via Zoom and provide feedback on one person’s submittal.
